If…
Those who are most certain, are least likely.
- I believe every individual should strive to learn.
- I believe every individual should strive to be serious.
- To learn is to work to understand, by seeking knowledge and by listening well.
- To be serious is to be productively apprehensive.
- To be serious is to be essential.
- To be aware is to be informed; and unconvinced.
- I believe every learner has a responsibility to be aware.
- And I believe every learner has a responsibility to both Excellence and Truth.
- These responsibilities do not and should not keep the learner from exploring interests and possibilities.
- That said, a serious learner should work to differentiate between Reality (i.e. consensus fact) and Possibility posing as fact (i.e. harmonious conjecture).
- I believe a serious learner should strive to create or produce tangible results.
- The more fully a result fulfills its purpose and/or potential, the more tangible it becomes.
- Though individual awareness is largely intangible, I believe it is a necessary first step to tangible results.
- And I believe Awareness of Reality is a necessary first step to making change for the Good.
- If Awareness of Reality does not beget anger, you do not understand Reality.
- To study only interests and possibilities, substantial or not, is comfortable; irresponsible; incomplete.
- I often ask myself the prefaced question, “I am only one person – what can I do?”
- Awareness.
If there is a Truth, those who are most certain they have it figured out, are least likely to be correct.
- Perhaps I ignore my opportunity to be a learner because I am too busy being in over my head.
- Perhaps I ignore my opportunity to be serious because I am too busy not keeping up.
- Perhaps as a learner the same could be said (that I am too busy) for Awareness, Reality, Excellence, or Truth.
- Not only is individual awareness largely intangible, I am largely intangible.
- I am working to produce more tangible results.
- I am working to fulfill an as-yet-unidentified purpose.
- Uncontrolled anger, though at times instinctive, is effort ill-spent.
- Justification, though at times instinctive, is effort ill-spent.
- Justification is not Justice.
- It is difficult to explain why and how Good requires anger.
- Substantial is not essential.
- Comfortable is incomplete.
- When I focus on interests and possibilities, I am balancing; and I am frustrating progress.
- I often ask myself the prefaced question, “I am only one person – what can I do?”
- Know it is not my best effort.
If there is a Way, those who are most certain they know it, are most likely to get lost.
