Too close to the edge

It seems, the closer we get to the cutting edge the smaller our steps. And as we slow down, it is not uncommon for this hesitancy to become comfortable complacency. And once comfortable, it becomes difficult to even talk about larger steps much less to gather the energy and resources required for any kind of actual leap. This allows those who are more and most comfortable to maintain and entrench. Maintenance is accomplished by dividing those who are more and most from those who are less and least. Entrenchment is accomplished by constantly carving steeper, deeper, and wider along the division thus distancing (in sight and mind) privilege from its prejudice. All to defend the cutting edge from unauthorized leaps and bounds.
